How my Canon G7X Mark II broke, and how I got Canon to repair it for free, even though I didn't have any valid warranty.

Two main lessons from this video:

1. When dealing with Canon, or any customer service business, it pays to be calm and to explain your situation in full. They might just help you out.

2. Don't be afraid to go public with your issues. Especially over Twitter, because most big companies have employees dedicated to watching Twitter. Of course a company like Canon doesn't want to see bad publicity over social media, so they might try and help you out.

This doesn't mean you should exaggerate or lie about the situation - that won't help. But if you have a broken camera like I did, let people know about it. It might just save you a couple of hundred bucks.
